  • Althea

Althea’s journey began on the streets of La Desembocada, where she was found in rough shape—covered in fleas and ticks, tired, and in need of care. Despite her hard start, this sweet little girl has blossomed into an adorable, gentle companion with a heart full of love.

    • Personality: Althea is a very quiet, calm soul. She’s nervous around new dogs but quickly shows her gentle nature once she feels safe. She’s wonderful company—content to simply be near you and soak up the peace of a kind presence.

    • Favorite Things: Car rides are her happy place! She loves watching the world go by from the passenger seat.

    • Motherhood: On October 24, 2025, Althea gave birth to three puppies. Only one little girl, Hope, survived, and Althea has proven herself to be an incredible mom—always alert, protective, and tender with her baby.

    • Age: Approximately born in August 2022.

    • Shelter Life: Althea has been at the shelter for 100 days. She’s still nursing Hope, but she can already be reserved for adoption and will be ready to go home once her baby no longer needs her. Because she’s been living in an outdoor shelter, she’ll need a patient adopter to help her learn the comforts of home life.

    Why Adopt Althea?

She’s a survivor, a devoted mother, and a gentle spirit who deserves a safe, loving home. With kindness and patience, Althea will blossom into the perfect companion—calm, loyal, and forever grateful.

  • Genaro

Genaro is one of the jailbreak trio — Gigio, Genaro & Gorupo! Estimated birthdate: September 2025 - He is overflowing with puppy charm! One late night, as our co-founder Sandra wrapped up her shift at the jail, she was approached by someone asking for help — and what she found was heartbreaking. A mama dog, Gina, was tied up on the roadside, while her three tiny pups were darting dangerously close to passing cars. Sandra didn’t think twice. She scooped up the whole family and brought them to safety. Settling into safety and growing stronger every day, these three little boys — lovingly nicknamed the Jailbreak Trio — are a whirlwind of joy. They’re playful, curious, and bursting with energy. Watching them tumble, chase, and discover the world is pure delight. They’re growing fast and will soon be ready for homes filled with love, patience, and plenty of playtime. Each one is a future best friend just waiting to meet their match.

  • Gina

Meet Gina — Mama of the Jailbreak Trio. Estimated birthdate: October 2023. Late one night, as our co-founder Sandra was leaving her shift at the jail, she was approached by someone asking for help. What she found was heartbreaking: a young mama dog tied up on the roadside, while her three tiny pups — Genaro, Gigio, and Gorupo — ran dangerously close to traffic. Sandra didn’t hesitate. She scooped up the whole family and brought them to safety. Gina is the devoted mom of the Jailbreak Trio, and her quiet strength is nothing short of inspiring. She’s gentle, watchful, and slowly learning that the world can be kind. Though she’s currently living in our outdoor shelter, she’s settling into safety and growing stronger every day. Gina will need a patient adopter to help her adjust to indoor life — things like soft beds, cozy routines, and the comfort of a real home are all new to her. But with love and time, she’ll blossom into the loyal companion she was always meant to be.
