He walks well on a leash. He has some fear reactions to loud noises, brooms, etc. He can be a bit protective of his home and his people. Would make a wonderful dog for an active couple or an active family with older children. He has long legs and is currently very thin. He likely will fill out more but is still a smaller dog. He loves to snuggle and get head rubs and will ask for more.

you read. Although he has limited movement of a rear leg (as a result of being hit by a car and subsequent surgery) that does not stop him from pursuing any activities he pursues. He is a happy guy that will adapt quickly to your household routine.
He has finished protocols and is ready for adoption.Nissan - ADOPTED, Renton, WA
Approx. D.O.B. February 2023. He is such a sweet boy and has done training with a trainor when he was still in Mexico! One thing he learned while in foster was how to ring the bell at the back door to go outside to go pee.
His foster parents say the following about this handsome guy:
Meet our sweet foster pup, Nissan. Abandoned in a dumpster behind a car dealership in Mexico when he was just weeks old, he was rescued and raised lovingly by Salty Dog Rescue. A year later, with the generous help of Alaska Airlines, he came to the US and into our home for an extended decompression period, in search of his new forever home.
Over the past few weeks, we have gotten to know him quite well. At one year old, he is a fully grown 34 pounds and healthy in all respects. Being raised in a shelter, he gets along extremely well with other dogs of all sizes and breeds. He is affectionate, playful and well behaved in our home. He is neutered and fully vaccinated.
With Google’s help, we believe his dominant breed is Formosan Mountain Dog. Native to the island of Taiwan, it’s an uncommon breed to the western hemisphere, but the typical physical and personality traits fit Nissan to a tee. Bred for hunting and guarding, he is smart and exceptionally loyal, and is always on alert with his big ears picking up sound from afar. He does not bark excessively, but he lets us know when someone unexpected comes around. He can be a bit aloof toward strangers, so if you meet him, don’t expect that love-at-first-sight vibe. But after you gain his trust, he is an affectionate and grateful companion. He is very athletic and loves the outdoors, so he would be well suited to someone who wants a hiking or running companion. At home, he can be guarded and apprehensive toward strangers, but out and about, much less so. Giving him limited off-leash experience, he loves the freedom to run, but also shows a strong instinct to stay close to his pack. He knows his name and responds promptly to voice recall.
Whoever adopts this dog is going to absolutely love him!

Good with all other dogs big and small.
Sprite - Adopted in Calgary
Sprite was born June 28/23. She is one of Lychee's puppies. Sprite looks just like her mama Lychee. She will be a small Chihuahua. I think right now she probably does not weigh more than 2 lb. Just a sweet little dog! She is getting potty trained. She likes to play with her toys and her siblings. She is used to big dogs. She likes to play fetch, she does not make a lot of noise, meaning she does not appear to be a yapper dog. LOL She is also very cuddly.
Theo - Special Needs - Kidney Care - Adopted
Approx. D.O.B. August 2021. Theo is a 2 year old, Chihuahua mix, male who was surrendered by his owner. He has been in foster care for about 3 weeks and is adapting well. He was very thin and weak and is beginning to put on weight and start to investigate his surroundings. Theo loves to go everywhere and anywhere and is well behaved in all circumstances. OR he is just content to cuddle in your lap. He is wary of men and may have been abused, but with consistent love he will overcome that too as he adapts to his new world. Theo is learning to sit and wait at the door and before he approaches his food. He loves to dance on his two back feet when he is excited and is learning to crawl on command. Theo, is house trained but can have the odd accident. This little guy would do well with other dogs or children, but has not been tested with cats. He does not bark or shed and is the perfect little companion you can take anywhere!
Thor - Adopted
This guys owner is deceased and the family did not want to keep him. He is the father of Azul. Thor weighed 6.3 kgs when he was weighed last and is healthy, sterilzed and vaccinated. Tootsie - Adopted
Approx. 7 years old and 6.8 kg found by the jail in PV. Tootsie had her teeth cleaned, a few front teeth removed, spayed and is now ready for adoption. Tootsie, is a sweet little terrier mix, of 15 pounds. She is timid at first but once she gets to know you, she will attach to your heart strings and follow you around. She is head over heels for belly rubs. If you stop she pulls your hand in with her paw. The downside of this is she has separation anxiety and wants to be with her human all the time and if left alone or cannot hear you, will bark and howl until you come home. She goes to work with her foster human and does really well. Transportation wise, she travels in a crate and is great in the car as well as on public transportation. She has no problem with loud noises or fast moving objects. She is calm at the office or in the house and a little ball of energy when it is play time outside. She loves to play fetch with a ball and will bring the ball back to you. Her nose can lead her astray and she will find the tiniest of holes to dash out from. She turns into a meerkat and stands on her hind legs, so she can get a closer sniff of what is on the counter, table , desk or what you are eating. She walks pretty well on a leash but will need minor reminders to not pull. Tootsie has discovered squirrels and would like to chase them. She is no longer vocal when she sees them but will require further desensitization training on this. She is unsure of some dogs and becomes more comfortable with those that are neutral and not in her space. Because of this she does not participate in playing with other dogs at this time. She does resource guard her food, therefore it is best to keep her food or bones/chews away from other dogs. Tootsie is very shy with men and needs reassurance when interacting with them. With time she gets comfortable with men but doesn't have the comfort level to be left alone with a male. She is crate trained and happily jumps through the threshold into the crate without even being asked. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night but is an early riser and gets up with the sound of the birds and sun. If she needs to use the bathroom, she will bark or howl to let you know. She has no problem being bathed, brushed, or "vet checked" (checking her ears, teeth, paws, tail). She is a picky eater when it comes to daily food, treats or chews. She loves plain yogurt and cheese and does not like peanut butter or anything fish based. She has not been tested with cats or children's (but shows interest when children are across the street.) She is unknown when it comes to nail trims. At this time she enjoys grazing on Signature Turkey Formula with Probiotics.
Tootsie would do best in a home as a single dog (due to resource guarding and attention seeking) and with a human that is home all day and can take her everywhere they go. She loves adventure almost as much as she loves her human.

Walter - Transferred to Wet Noses Rescue
Hello Future Family!
My name is Walter and I am 5 years old and weigh 17.5kg and FULL OF LOVE. I used to have a family, but they left me in front of Carl Junior’s because I was sick. It’s OK, a nice lady rescued me and I completed 6 weeks of chemo and received other meds and now I am CANCER FREE and VERY HEALTHY!!!!
I know how to walk on a leash, ride in a car, and understand some basic commands. I LOVE having my head and ears rubbed and promise to be a loyal companion if you just give me a chance!
Zira - Adopted in Illinois
Brave, smart, independent! Zira is a sweet little pup, D.O.B. March 2023 . She is being puppy trained and responding to a routine. She is smart, and already learning to wait for her meal until she is given the ok. She knows 'sit' and 'wait' and 'come' and does remarkably well for such a young pup. She is doing well at leash training, but will follow you anywhere off leash, anyway. 😊
She loves car rides, or anywhere with you. Having been found in the garbage, she is only now discovering the joys of cuddling.
She will likely be a medium sized dog when she is fully grown. She is still going thru protocols, but she is definitely worth the wait.
No she is not a lap dog, but she will give you bigger cuddles, kisses and tail wags. Oh, and as you age, you won't have to bend so far to give a reassuring pat to your faithful friend, Zira.
