Juanita’s journey to safety began on January 12, 2026, when Sandra found her by the roadside in San Juan. She had been struck by a car and was unable to walk, her body marked with blue ink and her spirit weighed down by pain. Her rescuer couldn’t leave her there—Juanita needed help, and she needed it urgently. Though her injuries are serious, Juanita’s resilience shines through. Even in her fragile state, there’s a quiet strength in her eyes, as if she knows she’s been given a second chance. She is disabled and recovering, but she is safe now, surrounded by care and compassion. Juanita’s story is still unfolding, and we’re just beginning to learn who she is beyond her hardship. What we do know is that she’s a fighter, and with patience, love, she has the chance to discover joy and belonging. Her past was marked by struggle, but Juanita’s future is filled with hope.
